Bill Bailey

Scholarship

Bill Bailey, a legendary Hamilton tenpin bowler was a highly decorated, pioneering figure in Canadian bowling. He was an inaugural 1970 inductee into the Hamilton Tenpin Hall of Fame and famously competed in the City Tenpin League for 72 consecutive years (1907 to 1979)—a feat that stood as a world record for decades.

Aside from his unmatched consecutive playing record, he was also instrumental in regional bowling history. Acting as a local bowling historian, he and other regional experts collaborated with national and international authorities to officially confirm that a 300 game bowled at Young's Restaurant on John Street, was the first perfect game in North America.

In his honour, the Niagara, Hamilton and District Tenpin Bowling Association continues to award the Bill Bailey Scholarship to youth bowlers in the region.
